Built for King Frederick William II in 1791, the massive sandstone Brandenburg Gate in Berlin’s Mitte neighborhood was the city’s first Neoclassical structure. It was modeled after Athens’ Acropolis. The Rhine Falls are located close to Schaffhausen, a city known for its magnificent bridges, and the German border. These are the largest falls in all of Europe and one of the most beautiful natural tourist destinations in Germany.

Flowing at an average of 600 m3/s, or about two thirds of the US Niagara Falls, this natural wonder never ceases to amaze tourists. The Rhine Falls are in Switzerland, but visitors can still reach them with ease from the German border.

The 110-acre Insel Mainau, also known as the magnificent Flower Island on picturesque Lake Constance, is a popular tourist destination due to its beautiful parks and gardens with a diverse range of tropical and semitropical plants.

Access to the island is only by boat or a pedestrian bridge connecting it to the mainland, so be sure to factor in some extra travel time in addition to the two or more hours required to fully explore this stunning property. There are plenty of public parking lots with electric vehicle charging stations on the mainland.
