1. Milos Plaka

Milos’ stunning capital, Plaka, is perched atop a rock formation with a view of the ocean. Pink flowers creep up the walls as the traditional Greek stone pathways meander between white cottages and vivid blue doors. The streets are designed to be confusing to pirates, which makes it easy to get lost in them!

It’s a great spot to see views of the rest of Milos and the sea because of its high vantage point. Savor leisurely evenings here, sipping food alfresco, observing passersby, and taking in one of the breathtaking sunsets in Milos.

Advice: If you’re visiting Milos, Plaka is an excellent place to stay. It is home to lovely churches, museums, and island walking paths, and it is close to many of the best things to do in Milos.

2. Plaka Castle at dusk or dawn

This has to be among the activities in Milos that people remember the most! This ancient Venetian castle has been reduced to just its walls, and a stunning white church perched atop a hill overlooking the sea has taken its place. The breathtaking views make the short hike to the summit worthwhile. To enjoy this location to yourself and witness the delicate dawn hues across the island, we advise rising early enough to witness the sunrise.

3. Milos’s Kleftiko Beach

You won’t want to leave Kleftiko Beach once you visit! Massive white cliffs and rocky outcroppings dominate the stunningly transparent ocean. These rocks have many archways and small pools that are great for snorkeling because of the way they were formed. Fish of every hue can be seen all around Kleftiko Beach in Milos.

4. Milos’s Sarakiniko Beach

The breathtaking Sarakiniko beach, with its lunar-like scenery, is another well-liked beach on Milos. The rocks resemble another planet more than a regular beach because of their whiteness and shapes. Because of its exposed location, the winds and waves have sculpted the rocks and cliffs over time, creating interesting bridges and archways that you can explore and jump off of. You can travel there by bus, or you can rent a moped or ATV and cruise the island at high speed.

6. Village of Klima Fishing

Greece’s traditional blue-and-white villages are not like this quaint little fishing village. The fishermen painted the doors of each house facing the water in this area a different color so they could easily identify which one belonged to them.

You can even stay directly on the water here as the majority of the houses are now vacation rentals rather than fishing houses! It’s a photographer’s dream to come here at sunset and see the colors of the water contrast with the vibrant houses!

Advice: Trypiti village is a half-hour hike down the hill. For those who prefer not to trek back up, we suggest visiting on a moped.

On Milos, there’s a vibrant fishing village called Mandrakia. Here, boats are kept in unique garages that are carved out of rock and have colorful doors on them. You’ll see many traditional boats in the harbor, which is still used for fishing. It’s also a great place to get seafood!

Milos is an excellent location to dive if you’re interested in it or want to give it a try for the first time! The sea is incredibly clear and teeming with amazing marine life. There are a ton of fascinating shipwrecks to swim among and explore on the seafloor between the three islands of Milos, Kimelos, and Polyegos. Milos is shaped like a horseshoe, and its famous white rock is one of the reasons this island has such distinctive and lovely beaches. Since most of Milos’ beaches are near to one another, you can easily visit them all while you’re there. There are some beaches that are more isolated and lack decent access roads. This means that you might have to drive on dirt roads or hike a considerable distance to reach the beach.
