8.DELPHI
Delphi is a UNESCO World Heritage site that is situated on the Greek mainland. The ancients considered the location sacred, making pilgrimages there to worship Apollo (the god of light, prophecy, music, and healing) and consult the fabled Oracle. The site was built on the lower slopes of Mount Parnassus and overlooked a dramatic gorge.
It is made up of the dilapidated remnants of multiple temples, a stadium, and a theater dating from the second to the eighth centuries A.D. to the eighth century B.C. The impressive collection of artifacts from the site is on display at the nearby Delphi Archaeological Museum. Delphi is located 180 kilometers northwest of Athens.
9.BEACHES AND TOWNS OF CRETE
Greece’s largest island, Crete, is one of the most visited tourist spots in the nation. Travelers from all over the world come to the island because it has some of the best beaches in all of Greece. Some of the most well-liked beaches in Crete are broad, natural expanses that are lapped by crystal-clear waters and provide unhindered views of the sea, while other beaches are narrow arcs of sand surrounded by eateries and promenades.
However, Crete is not just beaches. One of the most remarkable archaeological sites in the area is the magnificent Palace of Knossos, which is close to the charming city of Heraklion. 10.METEORA
Six monasteries called Metéora (“suspended in the air”) are situated atop numerous rock pillars in central Greece. The fourteenth century saw the founding of the first Metéora monastery. Either long ladders or big nets were needed to haul people and goods up to the monasteries. This was a big leap of faith because they only replaced the ropes “when the Lord allowed them to break.”
11.CRETA
Greece’s largest island, Crete, offers a unique combination of sun, sea, and sand, making it one of the most serene travel destinations. It’s a country of historic sites, vibrant cities, gorgeous beaches, top-notch museums, and towering mountains.
